Hamas Expected to Rejoin Truce Talks NewsMax.com WiresGAZA -- The Palestinian Authority said it appears likely the militant Islamic group Hamas will rejoin negotiations on a cease-fire. CNN reported Saturday a cease-fire on terrorist attacks against Israel is mandatory if talks are to continue on a possible Palestinian state. During a summit meeting in Jordan Wednesday, Prime Minister Mahmoud Abbas called for an end to all armed uprising. Hamas, however, answered that it would not negotiate with Abbas and planned to continue attacks against Israel. Some Palestinians have criticized Abbas, saying he has offered too much in exchange for too little. After a Palestinian cabinet meeting Saturday, ministers said they expected a resumption of talks in the near future. Ziad Abu Amr, the Palestinian minister of culture, said he would travel to Gaza, where Hamas is based, on Sunday or Monday. He said Abbas was also planning a trip to Gaza, but a firm date had not been set.
