One Reporter's Opinion: Revisiting the Wright Brothers
George Putnam
Friday, Dec. 5, 2003

It is this reporter's opinion that we ought to take another look at the fabulous Wright brothers, who gave wings to the world – a century of powered flight that has changed the way we live.

It was Dec. 17, 1903, that Orville Wright piloted the Wright Flyer for 12 seconds over Kitty Hawk, N.C., in the world's first powered and controlled airplane flight. He traveled 120 feet.

Check out my tribute from last year, "One Reporter's Opinion: Commemorating the 100th Anniversary of Flight."
