Randall Terry, the founder of Operation Rescue, and Gary McCullough of the Christian Communication Network have joined the effort to save a disabled woman from a court ruling that will end her life.
By order of a Florida judge, Terri Schindler-Schiavo, 39, will have her feeding tube removed at 2 p.m. Wednesday unless Gov. Jeb Bush intervenes.
At noon Monday, Terri's family and friends planned to begin a 24-hour-a-day vigil outside the hospice in Pinellas Park where Terri lives. "The vigil will continue until Terri is rescued by Gov. Bush, or killed," McCullough said in a statement.
Terri's parents say their daughter is not in a coma or a vegetative state. "Over the last 13 years, Terri has laughed with us, cried with us, talked with us, and even tried to get out of her chair," Bob and Mary Schindler said in a statement.
They are pleading with Michael Schiavo, Terri's husband, to let her come home to them.
Schiavo is leading the effort to have Terri's feeding tube removed. He contends she would not have wanted to live that way.
Randall Terry, a staunch supporter of pro-life causes, said: "It is inconceivable that a tin-pot judge has ordered the starvation of this young woman. All of us need to do everything in our power to rescue Terri from this cruel death.
"That duty begins with Gov. Bush," he said.
