Dr. Laura Schlessinger says she may just run for president.
In a NewsMax magazine story cover hitting newsstands this week, America's most popular female talk radio host says she might seriously consider a run for president if Hillary Clinton decides to do so.
"If Hillary ran, I would have to run against her," Dr. Laura told NewsMax Magazine in a recent interview with James Hirsen now appearing in the June issue.
She described Mrs. Clinton and her husband as being "perverse, disturbed and destructive … and immoral."
In the same no-holds-barred, hard-hitting style she displays on her "Dr. Laura Schlessinger Program" – now heard on over 400 stations nationwide, with an estimated 15 million listeners each week – Dr. Laura said she was worried Mrs. Clinton would be considered a role model for young women.
"That would be horrifying," she said of a Hillary presidential bid.
"Everything I've read about her … the book the FBI guy who was in the White House, Gary Aldrich – I mean, you read that book and you realize the two of them are perverse, disturbed and destructive. And immoral. And legalities mean nothing to them. This is not a role model. But this is what happens when you have such ferocious bias in the media and only one picture is painted. It's scary. If Hillary runs, I'm going to feel a need to run against her. "
Other points Dr. Laura made in a wide-ranging interview:
- On sex education: "In public school systems across the country, they're indoctrinating kids to be 'sexual' under the guise of protecting them, when you know that's not true. I think it is indoctrination for left-wing agendas."
- On feminism: "The bulk has been destructive. I'm ashamed of it. And I was in the midst of it in the sixties, but I'm thoroughly ashamed of it. ... It's been very anti-man, anti-marriage, anti-family, anti-child rearing. I think that's been very destructive. All you have to do is look at the last two generations of our children, and that's your answer."
- On gutless leaders: "I'm tired of the 'can't win against evil' way. I'm sorry, you cannot. They'll run you over. So that is my one big passion. "Ten Stupid Things People Do to Let Evil Win." That will be my next passion book. I am angry.
- On public schools: "I'm sure there are isolated exceptions, but by and large, the public schools are dangerous. … In a language arts class in Michigan, they gave a writing assignment. Students were supposed to answer the whole thing. All the parts. In great detail. Questions like 'What do your mother and father argue about? What happens when they argue? Who behaves badly toward you? Would you say your family is dysfunctional?' This was the most insane thing that I had seen. This is a national program ... these things are happening in schools all over the place. It's like Nazi Germany – going through the children to separate them from their parents. I find this horrifying.
- On her short-lived TV show: "My regret about the whole television show industry is that those venues which espouse the same virtues [as she does] did not have the courage or the energy to stand up with me. That's my regret. The little secret calls from well-known people saying, "We really back you" and "We're so glad you have the guts to do this." All the way up through senators. Christian groups. Jewish groups. Nobody else wanted to get hit by it. So here I was, Gen. McArthur. I had my pipe. I turned around and nobody was there. With a few minor exceptions, like Michael Medved."
The interview and an in-depth piece about the gutsy radio psychologist are just some of the many hard-hitting stories in the June issue of NewsMax magazine – the nation's fastest-growing conservative publication.
