Farrakhan's Wrong: Media Blamed Conservatives for McVeigh
Louis Farrakhan admitted on Saturday that John Allen Muhammad is a member of his Nation of Islam group.
Farrakhan then went on to condemn Muhammad, saying he would be thrown out of his group "if convicted."
Then Farrakhan cleverly attacked his critics, saying that when professed Christian Timothy McVeigh bombed the Murrah federal building in Oklahoma City, the media never discussed impeaching the Christian.
Meanwhile, Farrakhan gets a free ride from the media – though years of inflammatory rhetoric and his coziness with butchers like Saddam Hussein and Khadafi have clearly laid the groundwork for the likes of Muhammad.
You won't hear that from Dan Rather.
And contrary to Farrakhan's claim, the media did use McVeigh as a way to impeach conservative Republicans.
How can we forget the media rampage to impeach any American who held "patriotic" views and disagreed with Bill Clinton.
Remember the media rampage in 1994 against "hate radio" – and the media's attempt to tar "extremists" like Rush Limbaugh, G. Gordon Liddy et al.
In truth, there were no links between talk radio and McVeigh.
But there are links, strong ones, between Farrakhan's radical Islam and John Muhammad. A fair and balanced media would bring that point home to the American people.
The Chris Matthews Show
NBC has just launched a new Sunday morning program, "The Chris Matthews Show." If the program follows in the footsteps of Matthews' MSNBC show "Hardball," it should be a success.
It's interesting to note, however, that with Matthews' addition, all the major network Sunday "news" programs are now anchored by former Democratic Party operatives who worked for liberal Democrats.
Matthews was a senior aide to powerful House Speaker Tip O'Neill, Tim Russert was an aide to Mario Cuomo, and George Stephanopoulos was the Clintons' chief spokesman.
One can imagine if, God forbid, a conservative Republican would get a top media anchor job. Don't hold your breath.
Michael Moore, Phil Donahue Revel in Hate
It is only natural for Phil Donahue to have a special program Monday night with Michael Moore.
Moore is the author of "Stupid White Men."
It's a theme Donahue likes a lot. After all, Donahue thinks he is a stupid white man and believes all other white people are stupid idiots. They must be for shelling out big salaries to folks like Donahue or for buying books from people like Moore.
Donahue, who recently accused "white guys" of the sniper killings, is apparently unrepentant, with his celebration of Moore and his latest documentary, "Bowling for Columbine" – about guns in America.
Like all of his documentaries and his failed 1994 TV show, "TV Nation," Moore's consistent theme is to make ordinary Americans look stupid – typical liberal condescension that liberals like Phil Donahue revel in.
In one scene in his latest documentary, Moore makes a bank look silly for giving rifles away to customers who open new accounts.
The last I checked, guns are not only legal but also used in a popular sport in many parts of the country. Maybe target shooting is not a fun thing for the chic crowd in New York and L.A. who Moore and Donahue like to hang out with.
Thank God it is a sport.
Had we not had so many trained sharpshooters who hit the beach on June 6, 1944, Moore may have been saying "Heil Hitler" rather than his mantra, "Stupid White Men."
