Airport Security Screening Guidelines
Neal Boortz
Friday, Jan. 25, 2002

I found this one in a Wall Street Journal editorial today. It seems that the Department of Transportation has issued some document entitled "Guidance for Screeners and Other Security Personnel."

The document was issued because of "concerns ... about intimidation and harassment directed at individuals who are, or are perceived to be, of Arab, Middle Eastern, or South Asian descent and/or Muslim."

Now … get this. This document tells screeners that they " ... may not rely on generalized stereotypes or attitudes of beliefs about the propensity of members of any racial, ethnic, religious or national origin group to engage in unlawful activity."

Translation? OK … here's your translation. Screeners can't single out people who look like terrorists for extra attention at airport screening stations.

So – do some people really look like terrorists? Well you take a gander at those pictures of Richard Reid – the shoe-bomber – and you tell me.

  • Fact: Several terrorist groups have vowed to kill American civilians anywhere they can find them.

  • Fact: One particular terrorist group has vowed to hijack additional U.S. airliners and crash them into buildings.

  • Fact: All – and that means every single one – of the terrorist groups mentioned above are adherents to a radical form of Islam. That is, they're Muslim.

  • Fact: The vast majority of the members of these terrorist groups are of Arab or other Middle Eastern descent and all such members are Muslims.
  • Fact: All – and that means every single one – of the terrorists/hijackers who participated in the Sept. 11 attacks on the citizens of the United States were of Arab or other Middle Eastern descent and all were Muslims.
And now let's follow up all of those facts with just one more fact.
  • Fact: Government airport security screeners are being told that they cannot single out a person of Arab or Middle Eastern descent, or a person who appears to be Muslim, for any special attention at airport security stations.
There is only one word for that: IDIOCY.

This stupid penchant we have for political correctness in this country is going to get some of our citizens killed.

That Strange School Bus Driver

You know the one I'm talking about – that nutcase who took 13 children on a joyride from Pennsylvania to Maryland yesterday. He said that he was taking them to see Washington, D.C.

Evidently he treated the kids well. There were several pee-pee breaks on the way to Maryland, and he bought them all hamburgers. When the cops finally caught up with him, they found a loaded shotgun wrapped up in his coat.

OK … this is an election year. So, what can we expect from our legislation-happy bureaucrats in Washington? Two things, I think.

First, Sens. Ed Markey and Hitlary Clinton will introduce legislation demanding the federalization of all school bus drivers. Then someone else will want the Department of Transportation to take control of all school bus operations.

As soon as this is done, the Transportation Security Agency will be given the responsibility of guaranteeing school bus security and will mandate that all school bus drivers, federal employees or not, will be searched before they are allowed to board the bus.

Remember – in these times, there is no newsworthy event that will fail to bring a call for some new federal legislation.

Bad News for the Democrats

Alan Greenspan told Congress yesterday that we have turned the corner in the current recession. He also said that the economy would continue to improve with or without a stimulus package.

Tom Daschle does NOT want a recovery before the fall elections, but if he gets his entitlement program that he calls a "stimulus" passed, he can always claim credit for the improvement in the economy.

Hmmm ... maybe the best thing Republicans could do right now would be to block passage of ANY stimulus package.

Oh, Those Wacky University of Georgia Professors

The Talkmaster (that would be me) received an interesting e-mail form a UGA student last night. Here 'tis:

Neal, I am a college student at the University of Ga. I was in class the other day and somehow we began to discuss taxes. I was going to tell my prof the Neal Boortz idea of "Income Re-distribution" however, when I began to open my mouth and she heard your name, she raised her hands in the air and said,."That fat, fascist son of a bitch!!!" Right there in class. It was a good laugh. Of course, now the entire class wants to know who the "fat fascist son of a bitch" is ... so maybe you will get some new listeners. Athens, Ga.
Fantasy time. How I would love to spend an hour with this professor in front of her class. But people in Hell want ice water.

Wait ... We Have Even More Bad News for Democrats

The Battleground Poll is a bipartisan group, headed by Republican Ed Goeas and Democrat Celinda Lake. That means their poll results are fair and untainted by politics. In their first poll since the 2000 election, they had some very interesting results.

1. Question: What is the problem you and your family are most concerned about?

Economy 28%

Other 22%

Terrorism 15%

2. Question: Which party do you think could do a better job of solving this problem?

Republicans 38%

Democrats 29%

3. Do you approve or disapprove of the way George W. Bush is handling the economy?

Approve 67%

Disapprove 24%

4. Do you approve or disapprove of the way the Democrats in Congress are handling the economy?

Approve 39%

Disapprove 42%

There's lots more that is generally not good for the Dems. I imagine they feel like Butch and Sundance, looking over their shoulders asking, "Who ARE those guys?"

Homeless in Oregon Have Cars?

The following can be found on the Oregon DMV website under "Acceptable Proof of Residence Address" when applying for a driver's license:

An applicant who is homeless may use a descriptive address of the location where he/she actually resides, e.g., "under the west end of the Burnside Bridge." The applicant must present a written statement from a social service agency verifying the descriptive address. The applicant must also provide a mailing address.
These are requirements for a driver's license? Just why would an Urban Outdoorsman need a driver's license? Does he have a car? If so, wouldn't the car be his address?

Another Leftist College Professor's Dumb Story

Devery Fairbanks is Temporary Instructor in American Indian Studies at Iowa State University. At a recent conference he said, "The truth is not being told to our children. A lot of people don't know there was a Holocaust right here in America."

He then went on to claim that about 400 million American Indians were killed in the settlement of the United States. Let's see ... 300 million Americans here today, but 400 million Indians killed in the last couple of centuries. I guess it's obvious he's not a math professor.

If Only All Criminals Were This Dumb!

Michael Anthone Jacobs, 18, faces charges of armed robbery, attempted aggravated robbery, criminal damage and aggravated robbery in Mesa, Ariz.

Last Friday and Saturday he participated in three robberies. After the first one, he dropped his gun and broke it. While fleeing from another, his accomplice left him behind when he had to stop and use an asthma inhaler. Later, when he got to his car, he realized he'd locked his keys in the car.

Somehow he got in and fled the scene ... but he forgot to turn on his headlights and was pulled over by Mesa police.
