More bad news for Dan Rather.
A NewsMax.com online poll taken this week shows that a supermajority of 98 percent wants CBS to fire Rather today.
NewsMax began the unscientific poll Sunday, when it first broke online the story of Rather's efforts to censor the Condit-Levy story from the "CBS Evening News."
More than 170,000 votes have been cast in the NewsMax survey so far - and a whopping 169,523 votes were cast calling on CBS to fire their veteran anchorman.
Rather garnered a scant 3,867 votes in support of keeping his job.
On Wednesday evening, under orders from CBS executives, Rather grudgingly and briefly covered the Condit-Levy story.
But the poll news may be another nail in Rather's coffin. He already lags NBC's Tom Brokaw and ABC's Peter Jennings in the ratings - the only "poll" that counts at the big networks.
Already a target of Republicans who feel Rather is too liberal and biased, Rather's handling of the Condit-Levy story suggests he may have lost credibility with independent viewers across the country, leaving CBS little choice but to replace him.
