We Want Schippers!
John LeBoutillier
Friday, March 9, 2001
With the news that a federal grand jury in New York has expanded the Clinton-Marc Rich pardon probe to include allegations that first brother Roger Clinton solicited $15,000 to secure a pardon for an Arkansas man, the entire Clinton Pardon Case is taking on a national scope.

It may no longer be satisfactory for the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, Clinton appointee Mary Jo White, to handle it.

After all, there is the question: She was appointed by Clinton and can she therefore 'follow the money' even if it leads to Chappaqua, Little Rock, or even to a freshman’s office in the U.S. Senate?

The pro-Clinton New York Daily News – owned by Clinton lap-dog Mortimer Zuckerman – last week reported that Denise Rich and her lawyer were meeting with White’s prosecutors in a "proffer meeting."

That can only mean that Denise Rich is turning state's evidence against someone higher up in the scandal mess. Who is higher?

Terry McAuliffe, the new DNC chairman and Clinton fund-raiser, Hillary and Bill – that’s who. Only those three could make it worthwhile for White to let Denise off the hook for some federal violation.

But, unlike Webb Hubbell, Monica Lewsinsky and Susan McDougal, Denise Rich didn’t stall around and play hardball against the prosecutors. She was into making a deal real fast.

If this Pardongate probe continues to expand, it may be incumbent for Attorney General Ashcroft to appoint an independent counsel – also known as a special prosecutor.

If he thinks that has to happen, he needs to pick an experienced prosecutor who is unassailable for his/her reputation – and who is a Democrat so the James Carvilles of the world can't label the investigation 'partisan.'

Who fits the bill?

David Schippers! That's who.

Unlike the pathetically inept Ken Starr, Schippers spent his entire career going after mobsters and bad guys. To him, the Clintons would be just another case. He would know and have seen before all their tricks, delays, lies, strategies and attempts to intimidate.

David Schippers is the one man who could have the respect of all sides in going after Bill and Hillary.

Let us all urge our new attorney general to call Mr. Schippers and ask him to take over the case.
