Taxes, Taxes Everywhere; Time To Cut The Rates!
Dan Frisa
Tuesday, March 20, 2001
We’ve got surpluses as far as the eye can see - ten years under current projections.

But these surpluses represent your money, which will be paid in excess of federal budgetary expenses.

As President Bush said in his speech before Congress, "The American poeple have been over-charged. I’m here on their behalf for a refund.”

And now, with the Clinton Crash becoming more evident each day, it is imperative that marginal tax rates be cut to ward off an actual Clinton recession. (See Clinton's Bad Economy)

Even today's half-point cut in the federal funds rate seems short of what is needed to repair the Clinton damage. Rather, a comprehensive and thoughtful approach to both monetary and fiscal policy is in order.

It should be universally agreed that leaving the American taxpayer with more of his own money is not only the right thing to do, it will also serve to stimulate consumer confidence, which will lead to new spending and a re-vitalizing of the economy.

So where, then, does Sen. Joe Lieberman, D-Conn., come off with his "this tax cut is dead” routine, espoused on the Sunday shows this past weekend?

Well, to begin with, you can never believe anything this guy says. He so thoroughly prostituted himself during the presidential campaign that his word is now worthless.

(For an interesting take on just how blatant were his flip-flops, see Junior and Joe In The Garden of Evil)

Far from being the self-styled "conscience of the senate” as promoted by the leftwing chorus in the mainstream media, Joe Lieberman is a disgrace.

It’s interesting how the media continues to attempt to promote him and his leftist agenda despite having conducted himself with such obvious contempt for the wisdom and judgment of the American people.

Which probably says a great deal about the esteem with which the media itself regards the public.

Here’s a message for Lyin’ Joe Lieberman:

"WE DON’T CARE WHAT YOUR POLLSTERS TELL YOU TO THINK AS YOU POSITION YOURSELF FOR A PRESIDENTIAL RUN IN 2004!”

"THESE OVER-PAYMENTS ARE THE PEOPLE’S MONEY, NOT YOURS TO SHOWER ON YOUR BIG-GOVERNMENT SCAMS TO BUY OFF LEFTWING GROUPS FOR SUPPORT IN A FUTURE PRIMARY!”

Interesting.

The tax cut debate is so much like the debate on so-called campaign finance "reform.”

You’ve got media darling Sen. John McCain, "R"-Ariz., touting his phony bill – designed merely to garner himself media adulation – in a seemingly mindless effort to hamstring conservatives who would be castrated, politically, and left with no means to put forth their message as against the left-leaning media agenda.

The heck with free speech and the first amendment!

No, the media is only concerned with "free” press first amendment issues.

(See NY Times & McCain To Workers: Drop Dead .

Of course the broadcast media are the beneficiaries of government grants to use the people’s airwaves to enhance their own private profits, and both they and their brethren in the print media loudly tout their own favorite portion of the first amendment, conveniently neglecting that which protects the people.

McCainiac's solution punishes those not in favor with the media and labor bosses who refuse to respect the Supreme Court's Beck decision which requires them to allow union members to withhold the portion of their union dues dedicated to political contributions, if that member so chooses.

This issue as embodied in "McCain’s Find-Gold” is nothing more than an attempt by the left to silence those on, and in, the right.

So, send a message to Lyin’ Joe Lieberman and Megalomaniac McCain:

GET LOST!
LEAVE OUR MONEY ALONE!
