Comment: It's a Long, Hard Fall From the Top

It appears the liberals are terrified. They sense impending doom. Everything their renegade, runaway, socialist gang has done over the last eight years of corruption is teetering on the edge of falling into the abyss.
President Clinton is signing executive orders as fast as his carpal tunnel syndrome will allow, while he and Hillary are setting up safe houses in N.Y. and D.C. The radical Democrats in Congress know they are surrounded by peasants who have finally arrived at the castle with pitchforks.
Cities across the country are losing their lawsuits against gun manufacturers. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is in the middle of a quick makeover to show a kinder, gentler, more low-profile face to stem off possible disbandment (even though it just got approved the largest budget ever by the Clintonistas). The FBI is maintaining a very low profile, keeping their hostage/SWAT team disguised in coats and ties in the office.
The key players in the "investigations" of the Oklahoma City bombing, World Trade Center and TWA 800 are slipping off into retirement and cushy civilian jobs – before they might fall under scrutiny of new Justice Department eyes.
The news media are ignoring the new Florida count of the 10,000 "uncounted" ballots, now that they have been counted by the media and Bush picked up votes. The morning talking heads are even changing stripes by doing a bit of Clinton bashing on this day before inauguration – obviously to win favor with the new king (and continued access to the White House press room).
Liberal envirocrats all over the country have become deafeningly silent as Californians find themselves sitting in the cold dark, with food spoiling in the fridge and no gas being pumped at the local station, due to no new power plants being built for 10 years to save the spotted creek lizard, or some obscure biting insect, from extinction. These are the same weirdos who wanted smallpox virus to be put on the endangered species list when there was only one lab sample left on Earth! As the nation huddles inside during the coldest winter in decades – with the highest fuel prices in history – they are no longer laughing at those "crazies" who have already prepared for Y2K. Instead, THEY are now out buying up generators and woodstoves as fast as they can be built.
Still, we must not drop our guard. The closet-socialist "Republicats" at the top often do not expose their true faces until after they are in power. An example is John Ashcroft saying that he will support national gun registration and the "assault" weapon ban – obviously ignoring the 4.5 million NRA members and other gun owners who supported President-elect Bush.
The left-wing New World Order crowd may be feeling the pressure of the conservative rebound, but they are like rattlesnakes: They're never dead until their head is cut off. The poison of such as Schumer, Boxer, Feinstein, Kennedy and Lieberman et al. is still as deadly as before. A point our conservative colleagues must never forget: To "compromise" with these creatures is to deal with the devil. They are not happy unless their compromise gives them 100 percent of what they wanted in the first place. And in the past, Republicans have fallen for this over and over.
As for Bush, let's hope he doesn't forget who brought him to the dance like his father did in 1995.
