Analysis: Two Gavels Have Nailed Gore's Political Coffin Shut
Jack Thompson
Monday, Dec. 4, 2000
Sunday night, in the middle of 3 1/2 hours of closing arguments in the courtroom of Judge Sanders Sauls, Bush-Cheney attorney Barry Richard nailed it: "At the start of this proceeding I told the court that Mr. Boies had the burden of proof to show that these canvassing boards abused their discretion in counting the votes the way they did. Mr. Boies has utterly failed to do so."

Sauls has just ruled, at 5:40 p.m. Monday, that Team Gore did not carry their burden. He has ruled that there was no factual showing that the voting machines failed, and he has ruled that even if they did and if a hand recount were done in Miami-Dade, that there is no factual showing that Bush would have lost the election.

The Gore team had to prove these things, and they did not do so.

With Sauls' ruling, the fat lady has hit the first note in her closing number. Sauls has shown himself to be smart and fair. I now have no objection to judicial cloning, as long as the only judge cloned is he.

Now Team Gore appeals Sauls' decision straight to the Florida Supremes, hoping they will they try to give the White House, a second time, to Gore.

Does the Florida Supreme Court want to go out on a limb yet again, having had their heads handed to them today by the U.S. Supreme Court? If they do that, look for the vindicated Katherine Harris to certify one more result: that the Florida Supremes are certified masochists.

David Boies is already spinning this order of Sauls into a "minor" setback. Don't you believe it.

Two gavels fell today, one from Sauls and the other from the U.S. Supreme Court. They pounded two more nails into the coffin carrying Al Gore's political career.

What Gore started as a series of lawsuits to possibly win the presidency but to at least discredit a Bush presidency now serve only one purpose: to further discredit Gore and those who foolishly hitched their wagons to this litigation train to oblivion. I hear the wagons unhitching this very minute.

Al is about to be all alone. I can hear his petulance now: "You won't have Al Gore to kick around anymore." Good.

Al Gore won't stop. Read NewsMax.com's urgent letter. Click Here to find out how you can help inform America about Al Gore's election theft.
