WASHIINGTON, UPI Republican Texas Gov. George W. Bush's favorable ratings have risen since Election Day and Democratic Vice President Al Gore's have dropped, according to a poll released Saturday.
The poll, conducted Wednesday and Thursday by FOX News/Opinion Dynamics, also found 56 percent said Al Gore should concede the presidential election.
Sixty percent of the 900 registered voters surveyed had a favorable opinion of Bush; 46 percent thought highly of the vice president. Bush's ratings went up, while Gore's dropped from a pre-election poll, Fox said.
Bush's running mate, Dick Cheney, trumped both of them, with 64 percent of respondents saying they had a favorable opinion of him. Cheney recovered quickly from a slight heart attack suffered after the election and has been highly visible this week running transition planning from Washington.
"Fifty-six percent said they believe Bush won the election, while 25 percent said Gore did and 19 percent were unsure," Fox reported. "Worse news for Gore: 43 percent said his campaign has been the more negative one since Election Day, while just 26 percent said Bush's has been negative."
And most want the uncertainty to end quickly 59 percent said they are just sick and tired of the whole ordeal.
