Most House Impeachment Managers Survive Democrats' Threat

Although Democrats vowed to avenge President Clinton by defeating the Republican congressional impeachment managers in the general election, they weren’t successful. Ten of the 13 congressmen were re-elected, and one retired.

What follows is a list of the House managers and their election status. Those in bold kept their seats.

Rep. Bob Barr (Ga.) defeated Roger Kahn.

Rep. Ed Bryant (Tenn.) defeated Richard Sims.

Rep. Steve Buyer (Ind.) defeated Greg Goodnight.

Rep. Charles T. Canady (Fla.) retired

Rep. Chris Cannon (Utah) defeated Donald Dunn.

Rep. Steve Chabot (Ohio) defeated John Cranley.

Rep. Lindsey Graham (S.C.) defeated George Brightharp.

Rep. George W. Gekas (Pa.) defeated Leslye Herrmann.

Rep. Asa Hutchinson (Ark.) won the seat unopposed.

Rep. Henry Hyde (Ill.) defeated Brent Christensen.

Rep. Bill McCollum (Fla.) was defeated by Bill Nelson for U.S. Senate.

Rep. James Rogan (Calif.) was defeated by state Sen. Adam Schiff.

Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner (Wis.) defeated Michael Clawson.
